Stage 1: Copper ore crushing and screening

Copper ores mined from open-pit or underground mines often contain large rock mixed with gangue.

The first step in the copper extraction process is crushing the material into smaller, manageable sizes.

  • Jaw crusher: Ideal for primary crushing of large copper ores (up to 1,000 mm in diameter).
  • Cone crusher: Further reduces copper ore size to <25mm.

Stage 3: Copper ore fotation

Flotation is the core process in copper extraction and remains the most widely used beneficiation method for sulfide ores.

Through chemical reagents, copper minerals attach to air bubbles and rise to form copper-rich froth concentrate, ensuring efficient separation of valuable minerals from gangue.

Stage 4: Copper ore dewatering

The final stage of copper ore processing is dewatering — removing excess moisture to make the copper concentrate easier to store and transport.

The concentrator increases the copper concentrate density to 60–70% solids, while the filter press further reduces moisture content to 8–12%.
